With breathtaking scenery above the surface as well as below, the islands surrounding The Lagoon create a protected dive site, with excellent visibility, shallow waters, mild to moderate currents, and no current at all in the centre of the lagoon itself. The conditions here lend themselves to snorkellers and all levels of diver, as well as being a perfect spot for night diving.
The Lagoon Information
- Time to dive site: 3.0+ hours by dive boat
- Diver level: Beginner
- Currents: Mild to moderate
- Depth: 3 - 25m
The underwater topography of the two islands at the east of the lagoon creates a favourite dive spot, with interesting swim-throughs and overhangs formed by the rocks, and a sandy bottom which slopes away to 25m.
The rocks and hard corals here provide a home to a huge selection of sea life, including sea fans, harlequin shrimps, lobster, scorpionfish, porcupine pufferfish, colourful nudibranchs, ornate ghost pipefish and octopus. Schools of snapper, barracuda and many pretty reef fishes can be seen, and maybe even a hawksbill turtle.
